A new year is here again. Have you made conscious positive changes in your life this past year? Are you happy with the way your life is turning?
Whatever your answer is, I am going to remind you that you don’t need a new year to make changes in your life and live a magical life. However, this new year is a good excuse to remind yourself of the life you want to live.
Don’t do it for 40 days…
When I started training people, I remember a specific client who told me that she is going to give up cookies for 40 days. Wanted to lose weight and giving up cookies for 40 days did not make sense to me, so I asked her what difference it would make if she gave up cookies only for 40 days.
But something dawned on me when I was asking her that question. I also had an addiction and I did not want to give it up. I would only do it for a short period of time and then go back to the same. I did not want to accept that if I wanted to improve my life I needed to let go of bad addictions forever. So I made some drastic changes in my life. I did not need a new year to change. All I needed was to decide.
Now each time that I find a bad behavior in me, I commit to change it for life even though it takes time and effort.
So now that you have the excuse of this new year, 2023, you need to make life changes to achieve your goals…
Give yourself one day of this first month and write down all the goals and behaviors you need to practice to get there.
For example, let’s say your goal is to lose 30 pounds and tone your body, writing down something like, I lost 30 pounds and started toning my body by the end of 2023 by eating healthy (specify even more), lifting weights three times a week and running twice a week.
I am saving a $50,000 down payment to buy my house or start my business by the end of 2023. I am going to stop spending money on useless things and things I don’t need in my life and start saving that money. I would work extra hours to save even more money.
I live a magical life this 2023 by giving thanks every morning and night...
I am learning how to see the good side of everything that happens to me because life happens for me to become better. I meditate and learn to control my thoughts every morning for 20 minutes.
I am visiting Japan (or whatever country you want to visit) with my family this year.
I am increasing 10% of my charity or be more involved in the organizations I am helping to improve this world.
When 2024 comes, I am stronger, in shape, healthier, running my business, owning my house, being a mature adult, happy, relaxed and serving others.
Remember that all these changes you are stating are changes that you are committed to do for life…
You are a better person in 2024 than you were in 2023. You are living with a purpose and setting up goals. This is the only way your life will improve, by consciously making changes in your life. Each year you will be more successful.
The truth is that I want you to take advantage of conscious decisions and goal setting.
Don’t let another year pass wishing you were better when you can make the decision to make your life better. If you continue wishing, you will get old dying wanting to change. But if you make changes now, you will live your life to the fullest knowing that you are doing your best and your life is turning out just like you wish.
