Learning From a Champion: What I Learned From Interviewing Alex Jamal About Real Body Transformation

Learning From a Champion: What I Learned From Interviewing Alex Jamal About Real Body Transformation.

No drink alcohol

I recently had the honor of interviewing Alex Jamal, a Certified Nutritionist, Personal Trainer, and Champion Bodybuilder with over 20 years of experience helping people transform their bodies.

As you know, here at Custom Body Fitness we believe in learning from other professionals who truly understand transformation — not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Alex has helped hundreds of people achieve real, lasting results, and I wanted to understand how he does it.

What interested me most was not just his knowledge, but his story.

I always try to understand the emotional side of successful people. The struggles they faced often explain why they became such strong leaders.

Alex told me that since childhood, he wanted to compete, to win, and to prove himself. That desire was deeply shaped by tragedy: he lost his father in a bombing and later lost his brother in a car accident.

From those losses, Alex developed two powerful traits: an intense drive to succeed, and deep compassion for others.

That combination is what built his career.

Over the last two decades, Alex has helped children find passion in sports, helped adults transform their bodies, built a successful business in California, and became a bodybuilding champion.

When I asked him what truly matters for body transformation, his answer was simple and powerful. He believes every person must focus on five pillars:

Strength training

Proper nutrition

A well-designed plan

High-quality sleep

Regular evaluations

He explained that in the beginning, change is always uncomfortable. You will face resistance, doubts, and many questions. But discipline turns difficulty into habit, and habit into results.

Alex also warned about two major obstacles that stop most people from transforming their bodies.

First: alcohol.

He was very clear. Drinking is one of the worst things you can do for your health and your fitness. Even one glass of wine can slow recovery, disrupt hormones, and stop fat loss. He also mentioned that the health compounds people seek in wine can be obtained from healthier sources without the damage alcohol causes.

Second: influencers.

Alex explained that many people follow influencers simply because they look good, not because they have real credentials. A good physique does not equal knowledge. It is essential to research who you follow and make sure they have the education and experience to guide you correctly.

Interviewing Alex reminded me of something we live by here at Custom Body Fitness in Glenwood Springs and the Roaring Fork Valley:

Real transformation is built on discipline, knowledge, compassion, and consistency.

I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from Alex Jamal, and I know his message can help many people avoid mistakes and take the right path from the beginning.
