Mrs John has been with us for around 9 months and she has lost around 50 pounds. She looks younger and she is a lot stronger than before. Even though she has lost so much weight, she still has fat to lose, to be more specific she has 33% body fat and she can lose another 13%.
Last time I assessed Mrs John, she said she is getting frustrated. I was surprised with her comment taking into consideration the amazing results she has delivered. So I asked her why and she answered that she could not lose belly fat.
One of the questions I commonly get is, “How can I lose my belly fat?” by new members.

Of course, my job as a health coach is to give the right information to our members and help them understand the right steps to take to lose weight. There is so much misinformation everywhere. So people are very confused about what is and what is not possible.
The truth is that fat cannot be isolated. There is no way you can only lose fat in your stomach. Does not matter if you do 10,000 crunches or hold a plank for a week or only work your abdominal area the rest of your life.
The energy system of fat burning in the body does not work that way many people think. Muscles do not recollect fat from close areas and burn it. Fat needs to travel into the bloodstream, pass to the liver, break down into ATP to be burned or get stored to be used later. That takes a process and blood recollects fat from all over the body, not caring if you work your abs.
So please, understand that it is not possible to isolate fat and burn fat only in your stomach.
When I was talking to Mrs Johnson I told her to look at her old picture when she started and compare her old belly to her present stomach. She was surprised how big her stomach was in the past and how much weight she has lost.
Mrs Johson was focusing on the fat in her stomach that she still needed to lose instead of looking at how small it is compared to when she started. Mrs Johnson's stomach was 6 times bigger than what it is now.

However, I didn’t ignore Mrs Johnson's concern. She was really thinking about how she continued losing her belly.
Like I mentioned before, there is no way you can isolate fat. But the good news is that you can still lose the belly you want to lose. However, you are not going to lose fat only in your belly, but you will lose fat all over your body.
I want to mentioned that I have met so many women who have done liposuction in their stomach, arms, back and they continue storing fat in those area, but because the body can’t continue store big amounts of fat in those areas, the body will look to store fat in other areas, such other areas of the arm, chicks, neck, hips and the body will start looking deform.
Anyway, to lose fat in your belly you need to do the following:
The first step is to eat healthy. Learn how to eat healthy. I have so many articles, episodes that talk about eating healthy. I am not going into details in this article about eating healthy. But once I gain, you can find my articles or even better, you can do your research about eating healthy.

Second step is to do your cardio. Training your cardiovascular system will help you burn lots of fat. So include any cardiovascular training as a habit. Do it at least 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes.
Third, do your weight training. By now you know that you are going to lose fat in your belly, but also in your whole body. So if you want to continue to have curves and, even better, a toned body, then you need to lift weights. Plus, it will help you burn more fat by increasing your resting metabolic rate.
Fourth thing is to change your life. You can’t follow these habits mentioned above just for a couple of months and expect to be healthy for life and not have belly fat. This is a complete lifestyle change. So if you are ready to get rid of belly fat, start by knowing that you are becoming a new you by practising new habits.

You can’t isolate body fat lost in one area of your body like only in your belly.
The only way you can do it is by surgery. However, your body will suffer the consequences and it will deform and will continue storing that fat somewhere else if you don’t change your lifestyle. The only way to lose belly fat is by losing weight all over your body and you can do that by eating healthy, exercising and overall changing your lifestyle.
