Seed Oils, Cleanses, and How to Lose Weight Easier and Faster with Cherie Calbom

Seed Oils, Cleanses, and How to Lose Weight Easier and Faster with Cherie Calbom

I already knew how important food is for weight loss and overall health. However, I was not fully aware of how much the type of fats and oils we consume can influence our health and well-being.

Of course, I knew that olive oil is one of the healthiest oils you can consume. But I did not know there are many other oils and healthy fats that people use every day to support their health.

I also knew that many people use cleanses as part of their wellness routine. However, I had never thought deeply about how taking care of the liver and supporting the body's natural detoxification systems could affect overall health.

I was blown away by my interview with Cherie Calbom.

Cherie developed fibromyalgia and suffered from chronic fatigue, musculoskeletal pain, and other symptoms that doctors struggled to help her with. Instead of giving up, she started learning everything she could about nutrition and health. She concluded that her diet was contributing to her diagnosis, so she eliminated many processed foods and began focusing on vegetables, fresh juices, and whole foods.

Over time, her health improved dramatically and her disease disappeared.

After her personal transformation, Cherie went back to school and earned a master's degree in nutrition. She has written more than 30 books—which I think is amazing—and has dedicated her life to helping people improve their health naturally.

I learned many things from Cherie during our conversation. Here are some of the lessons that stood out to me.

Lesson 1: Pay Attention to the Oils You Consume

Cherie explained that many common seed oils go through extensive industrial processing. Depending on the product, oils may be refined, bleached, deodorized, and exposed to high temperatures before they reach the consumer.

Her recommendation is to focus on minimally processed fats and oils whenever possible.

Some of the oils and fats she likes include:

  • Extra virgin olive oil

  • Avocado oil

  • Coconut oil

  • Sesame oil

  • Butter or ghee from quality sources

She also recommends paying attention to how oils are produced and choosing products that are less processed whenever possible.

Lesson 2: Some Oils Are Better for Cooking and Others Are Better Cold

One interesting point Cherie mentioned is that not all healthy oils are ideal for high-heat cooking.

She likes oils such as:

These oils are often consumed cold or added to foods after cooking because heat can damage some of their beneficial compounds.

The important lesson here is not simply which oil you use, but how you use it.

Lesson 3: Weight Loss Is More Than Calories

She believes that:

  • The quality of your food matters.

  • Your digestion and gut health matter.

  • Your stress levels matter.

  • Your sleep matters.

  • The foods you eat can influence your energy, cravings, and long-term health.

This aligns with what I have seen at Custom Body Fitness for more than 15 years.

People who focus only on calories often struggle. But people who improve their eating habits, sleep better, exercise consistently, and learn to manage stress are the ones who create lasting body transformations.

Lesson 4: Take Care of Your Liver and Digestive Health

Cherie spoke extensively about the liver and digestive system.

She believes that supporting the body's natural detoxification systems through healthy eating, hydration, exercise, and reducing processed foods can help people feel more energetic and healthier.

Personally, I think this is an important point.

Your body already has remarkable systems to process and eliminate waste. Taking care of those systems by eating nutritious foods, staying active, drinking enough water, and getting quality sleep is something we all can benefit from.

Lesson 5: Health Is a Lifestyle

The biggest lesson I learned from Cherie was not about one food, one oil, or one cleanse.

It was about lifestyle.

Your body responds to the choices you make every day.

The foods you eat.

The amount of sleep you get.

How often you move.

The people you surround yourself with.

The habits you repeat.

These are the things that determine your health and body transformation in the long run.

I can tell Cherie is extremely knowledgeable, but what impressed me the most is how much she cares about helping people.

She is passionate about sharing what she has learned and helping others take control of their health.

I summarized some of the lessons I learned in this article, but there was much more in our conversation about nutrition, oils, gut health, and wellness.

If you want to learn more, I encourage you to listen to the full interview on our podcast.
