How Do I Stay Motivated When I Don’t See Results Right Away?
How badly do you want to achieve your goal?
How will your life improve when you finally reach it? And more importantly — are the results meaningful enough for you to pay the price of change?
These are the questions you must ask yourself before you begin any transformation. Your “why” needs to be powerful. For example, how motivated would you feel to walk over fire for twenty dollars compared to walking over fire because you are running for your life? The stronger and more meaningful the reason, the stronger your motivation will be.
The first step is to make your objective crystal clear and ensure that the pain of staying the same is greater than the discomfort of changing. Once your purpose becomes that important, motivation begins to grow naturally.
However, motivation alone is not enough.
The journey toward your goals will come with obstacles, setbacks, and moments of doubt. Nobody said achieving your dreams would be easy. This is why, after you become motivated, you must also develop discipline.

It is discouraging to work hard and still feel stuck because you are taking the wrong actions. Taking imperfect action is a great place to start, but do not wait too long to correct your direction. Just as you would check a map before driving from Denver to Florida, you should also make sure your fitness plan is guiding you toward your true destination — not sending you the wrong way.
There are many valuable resources available to help you stay on track: books, articles, trainers, nutritionists, doctors, videos, and courses. The more confident you feel about your plan, the easier it becomes to stay motivated.

Once you know you are heading in the right direction, two powerful virtues must guide you the rest of the way:
discipline and patience.
Results do not happen overnight — just as weight gain did not happen overnight. Transformation takes time, consistency, and repetition of the right habits.
Discipline is what allows you to continue your habits even when motivation fades, when life gets busy, or when progress feels slow. Patience allows you to trust the process long enough for results to appear.

To stay motivated when results are not showing yet:
Clarify your burning desire and your purpose for change.
Make sure you are on the right path with the right plan.
Commit to discipline and patience — every day, no matter what.
Do these consistently, and motivation will stay alive, even during the periods when progress is happening beneath the surface but has not yet fully shown.
